This festival, taking place from July 24th to 26th, is a showcase of the best young hockey players in the North West, and our island's contingent is a testament to the sport's growing popularity and skill level here.
A Sisterly Duo and a Rising Star
Evie and Faith W, sisters from Castletown HC, are a dynamic duo on the girls' squad. They're joined by Ela B from Harlequins HC, who has already proven her worth with multiple selections to the NWTA squad. Evie and Ela's experience will be invaluable, especially for Faith, who is making her debut at the festival. This is a fantastic opportunity for these young athletes to learn and grow together.
Boys' Squad: A Mix of Experience and Fresh Talent
The boys' squad features Ross G from Cronkbourne Bacchas HC and Caleb B from Harlequins HC. Ross, a seasoned representative of the NWTA, will provide leadership and guidance to Caleb, who is making his first selection. The NWTA squads have been preparing diligently, playing against Rotherham TA in Sheffield over the weekend. Both teams secured wins, with the boys triumphing 3-2 and the girls 3-1. These victories are a great boost of confidence heading into the festival. However, the teams still have some final preparations, including a match against Durham TA today (Sunday) and a training session on July 19th in Fylde.
